JASON DUNDAS
FOR INVISALIGN

The alternative to traditional braces

Many people want straight teeth and one way to get them is to use the teeth straightening system called Invisalign. The first thing you may want to do if you are going to try Invisalign in South Perth is to find a dentist who does orthodontics who is experienced in their use. Since the dentist has to attend a special course in order to treat patients with Invisalign aligners, not all offices offer them.

Our team is very experienced in determining our patient’s dental needs and desires. We only recommend treatments that are appropriate and will meet your needs and desires. We are not only experienced technically but we are proud of our ability to work with patient’s needs in managing financial constraints and emotional concerns. Where appropriate we also work very closely with appropriate specialist dentists to coordinate the care of our patients.

How does Invisalign work?

Invisalign uses a series of clear aligners, a new one every two weeks, that gently push your teeth into alignment. What makes Invisalign an appealing form of treatment is that these clear aligners are almost invisible; most people won’t know that you are wearing them. Invisalign aligners are generally best for minor or mild orthodontic problems, but may not be great for some major straightening. You should always consult with your dentist to find out if Invisalign is right for you. If you are the perfect candidate and ready to go, you will get your mouth measured and a treatment plan will be put in place. You will need to wait about 6 weeks for your aligners to be made and in that time, it is often recommended that you have your teeth professionally cleaned.

You should expect to wear the Invisalign aligners for at least 22 hours a day. You can take them out when you eat or drink and when you brush your teeth, but that’s it. If you do not adhere to that, your teeth will not straighten and you will have likely thrown several thousand dollars away. Just because these aligners are removable, it doesn’t mean you should keep them out. Worst case scenario is that you leave them out for too long and your teeth shift out of place meaning you need to start the process all over again.

The Invisalign system is similar to braces, but they are removable and best of all, invisible, which is something that is important to many adults.
